TRASH & RECYCLING IS COLLECTED IN RED HILL ON THURSDAYS BY WASTE MANAGEMENT

If the following holidays occur on or before Thursday, collection will be FRIDAY for that week only:  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day  CLICK HERE for the Waste Management 2023 Collection Calendar
If your trash or recycling is not collected  or your totes need to be repaired or replaced call the borough office  at 215-679-2040 x102 and leave a detailed message. The borough will notify Waste Management.  It is always best to call the borough and not Waste Management directly.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Place your carts and bulk items (see below for details) at the curb no later than 6 a.m. with the handle of the cart facing away from the street

  • Keep 4 feet between carts and other obstacles such as trees, cars, mailboxes, etc.

  • Each household should have two totes one for trash and one for recyclables. 

RECYCLE CART - YELLOW LID 

  • Empty your acceptable recyclables  directly into the cart, do not bag. 

  • Flatten or breakdown cardboard boxes before placing in cart.  Excess cardboard may be flattened and bundled and left near the cart.

  • See the lid for acceptable recycling materials and tips to recycle right. 

  • Containers must be free of food and liquids, do not put foam cups, containers, green waste, batteries, clothing, furniture or carpet in the recycle tote.

WASTE CART - GREEN LID 

Please bag all waste before placing in your cart.  This keeps your cart clean, our employees safe, and prevents litter from blowing throughout our community.  Extra bags are permitted but they must be a single tied bag.  No trash should be placed in any box and left to be picked up. 

BULK PICK UP

  • One bulk item is permitted each week, no tags are needed and there is no additional charge.

  • If a bulk item is oversized or too heavy for one person to move, contact the Borough office a few days prior to your collection date. 

  • Examples of bulk items include mattress, box spring, construction debris, carpet roll, furniture, fixtures, etc. 

  • Mattress or box springs must be wrapped or bagged in plastic or they will not be picked up. 

  • Carpet rolls should be bundled and tied, and no longer than 4 ft. in length.

  • Construction debris is limited to 1 container or bundle of less than 40 lbs., all nails, tacks and screws must be removed.

  • White goods (large household appliances) are NOT accepted. 

  • If you are putting out an air conditioner or dehumidifier Freon must be removed by a Certified Technician and a tag placed on the unit. No items will be picked up without a tag. 

  • Electronics and household hazardous waste are NOT accepted.

                          (Some drop off sites do charge a minimal fee for their services*. (Fees will be listed with drop off location!)

BRANCH PICK UP THE NEXT BRANCH PICK UP WILL BE MAY 20, RAIN DATE MAY 21. Branch pick up occurs twice a year once in May and once in September.  Tree trimmings must be placed at your trash pick-up site by 7 am.  Due to the time needed to make all the stops in town, the truck will spend no more than 10 minutes at any one location.   The bottom of the trimmings needs to be facing the direction of traffic and be no wider then 4" in diameter. No leaves or yard waste will be collected. Thank you for your cooperation.

CHRISTMAS TREES  RED HILL RESIDENTS ONLY (you may be asked to show proof of residency) May bring Christmas Trees to the borough from January 1st thru January 21st. Area to leave trees is marked and is located next to the mulch pile. Other dumping will be subject to $1,000 fine.
